Apparent Consumption Of PP Is Expected To Increase By 5.5% In 2018.
- Aug 27, 2018 -

PP apparent consumption increases year by year.

According to the forecast of production capacity and production of polypropylene, combined with the further increase of domestic self-sufficiency of polypropylene and the slow decline of total import, it is predicted that China's apparent consumption will be around 24 million tons in 2018 and 32 million tons in 2020.

From the perspective of consumption structure, polypropylene consumption is not only confined to plastic knitting, injection molding parts, biaxial tensile film and other fields, but also in the consumption of fiber, pipe, automobile and electrical appliances and other special materials, the growth is obvious.

From the perspective of product substitution, the substitution of recycled materials for new materials is greatly reduced, and the import of waste plastics is reduced. Under the serious shortage of imported materials, domestic materials become the mainstream source of goods, and new materials replace recycled materials, which also provide opportunities for the growth of apparent consumption of PP.

From the point of view of consumption region, East China, North China (including Shandong), South China is the largest producer of plastic products, but also China's main polypropylene consumption. In recent years, consumption accounts for more than 80% of the total consumption in these three regions. Eastern China, which has developed economy and maintained rapid economic growth, is the largest consumption area of polypropylene, followed by South China and North China. The four provinces of Guangdong, Shandong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang are the most concentrated regions of polypropylene processing enterprises in China. There are many enterprises engaged in plastic processing. These areas not only produce large quantities of plastic products, but also high grade, and the demand for raw materials is diversified and specialized. It can be said that the plastic processing industry in these areas represents the current technical level of China's plastic processing industry.

The production capacity of PP in China mainly distributes in East China, South China and Northwest China. The consumption mainly concentrates in East China, South China and North China, and the imported PP mainly flows into East China and South China. East China, South China and North China are the main consumption areas of PP. Most of the manufacturers set up distribution points in these three areas. Trade is very active. There is also a small amount of commodity flow between the three places. Because of the relatively close distance between East China and North China, the mode of transportation by steam is usually adopted, and the mode of transportation between South China and East China is generally more by sea.
